In case you missed it, the Dallas Business Journal gave its Public/Private Deal of the Year award to the Plaza at Preston Center for its work with University Park to establish a permanent location for the city's library.

Mike Geisler, a co-founder of Venture Commercial Real Estate, helped broker the Plaza's deal with the city, which led to the construction of a new five-story commercial building at the shopping center that will house the University Park Public Library and also have a 450-spot underground parking garage.

The partnership between the Plaza at Preston Center and University Park included an "exchange of ownership of streets, sidewalks and alleys for the library space" to "end the city’s search for a permanent library location, while addressing the center’s need to improve parking and traffic flow," according to a news release about the award.

The new library will be located on the building's second floor and have a size of 17,500 square feet. The construction of the building is expected to be completed by December of this year.
