La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas kicked off its 2016-2017 season themed “La Fête Royale” with a gathering of the La Fiesta ladies’ Guild members at the Highland Park estate of Kathy and Harlan Crow on Preston Road.  La Fiesta Chairs, Rebecca Gregory and Nancy Monning, announced the flag of France will be celebrated this year, as one of the six flags (“Seis Banderas”) that have flown over our great state.

The champagne will be flowing for proud parents of the 40 young ladies and 40 young men who will be presented as the season’s “Duchesses and Escorts” at the Presentation Gala.  Gala Co-Chairs, Anne Besser and Michelle Johnson, announced that the Gala will take place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel on Saturday, June 10, 2017.  The Duchesses and Escorts will be formally announced at an evening reception on December 20th.

Social Co-Chairs, Megan Saustad and Pam Stegenga, unveiled a full graphic design package created by RosanneBeck Collections for all the season’s upcoming fifteen events, featuring classic French icons such as fashionable frocks, proper poodles, gilded jewels, and irresistible macarons.

Preview Luncheon Co-Chairs, Pauline Neuhoff and Kathy Sockwell, shared with the volunteer group of over 150 ladies that the Belo Mansion will host the April 19 Luncheon honoring the mothers of the Duchesses and Escorts.   The Preview Luncheon will showcase the traditional porcelain dolls created in each girl’s likeness and wearing a replica of the Duchess’ Presentation Gala costume and jewelry.

Emily Robson, Corporate Underwriting Chair, inspired her dynamic committee in the Crow’s luxurious underground executive conference room.  Meanwhile, Underwriting Co-Chairs, Kim Quinn and Laurel Page, convened their team of more than fifty go-getters in the breathtaking grand library amidst the Crow’s treasure trove.  The La Fiesta Kick-Off was one of the first large groups to make use of the Crow’s new underground parking garage, but the valet parkers provided by the Crows relieved any driver or host angst.

La Fiesta was founded in 1986 as the “Park Cities Festival Meeting Community Needs” to provide for educational, charitable, and civic needs and has donated nearly $8 million to date.  For more information, please visit www.lafiestaparkcities.com.
