Residents Enjoying the Jazz Band

Edgemere, an SQLC retirement community, recently hosted an afternoon “Jazz and Gelato” social for residents and guests. The Dave Zoller Quartet of Dallas performed several sets of jazz standards in the community’s new two-story, 6,000-square-foot Performing Arts Center as dozens of residents and guests danced, laughed and enjoyed delicious gelato and light hors d’oeuvres.

“Everyone seemed to really enjoy the live music, and residents and guests began dancing as soon as the band started to sing popular jazz songs,” said John Falldine, managing director at Edgemere. “Edgemere’s new state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center is the perfect venue for residents and guests to relax and enjoy music performed by talented local artists,” “Events like Jazz and Gelato are part of Edgemere’s Masterpiece Living® platform, a philosophy which embraces healthy living at any age and in all regards – physical, spiritual, social and mental.”

According to the National Institute on Aging, studies have shown that music and other enjoyable activities correlate with improved health and better overall wellbeing in seniors, which is why the Edgemere community strives to provide residents and guests with live music and other forms of entertainment on a regular basis. Recent studies also suggest that social activity plays an important role in senior health by increasing their happiness and sense of personal satisfaction.
