Highland Park ISD supporters will be able to display their school spirit on the road later this year with custom HP license plates that have officially been approved by the state.

The plate, which has blue top and bottom borders, the HP logo and the words "GO SCOTS" on the bottom, will be available for purchase toward the middle of August through the website www.MyPlates.com. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Board approved the plate earlier this month.

The cost for plates with only the background design is $55 for one year. Personalized HP plates start at $85 for one year. The cost goes down if you purchase the plates for multiple years. Also, the Highland Park Education Foundation will receive 10 percent of each plate sale, which will benefit the school district.

The design for the plate was created by Catherine Taylor, who is a 2011 Highland Park High School graduate.

Currently, ten other high schools have their own Texas plate designs, including Allen, Bishop Lynch, Carroll, Coppell, Jesuit Dallas, Keller, Lake Dallas, Liberty Christian, Longview and Prosper.
