During a Thursday night work session, the University Park City Council decided on the Strode development to have staff develop a zoning ordinance that did NOT incorporate ANY of the five requested changes that were developed based on the input of over 600 CUP residents and Snider Plaza merchants. To limit any further discussion, no citizen input will be allowed by the City Council prior to their approval of the final ordinance this Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m., despite this new building’s opposition by over 700 residents and the vast majority of the Snider Plaza retailers. For whatever reason, the City Council has not listened to the objections OR recommendations of their constituents.
So, what can you do to stop this building from changing our residential community?
- Attend City Council Meeting: Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. at 3800 University.
- At that meeting, you will be able to sign a petition to amend the UP City Charter to add a provision to recall the Mayor and City Council, like most other cities. Bring your voter registration card/number to be able to sign petition.
- Write a check to help fund the lawyers and traffic study to fight this ordinance. Please make checks to UPRNFD* and mail to 3419 Westminster Ave. Suite 221 Dallas, TX 75205 or drop checks off at BBVA bank @6501 Hillcrest. Contact: Alison Edney
- Put a sign in your yard ASAP: Available to pick up at 3547 Haynie
