The Covenant School boys track team took first place at the TAPPS State Track and Field Meet in Waco last weekend in the 2A classification. This is the first track championship for the Knights. The team started the second day of competition in 11th place, and after a great day of competition they were up by five points going into the last event –the 4x400 relay. After a disappointing finish in the first event on Saturday, the entire team rebounded to set personal bests and school records while finishing higher in every event than where they were seeded. The team finished the meet by winning the 4x400 relay, edging out the Geneva School of Boerne at the finish line to win the state championship by 13 points!
“It was a great way to end the season and a true picture of the result of hard work and determination,” said Coach Brice Helton. “I couldn't be more proud of the perseverance the team displayed; it was a true team effort.” To see the video of the last event, click HERE.
