A storm packing high winds and torrential rain downed numerous tree limbs and power lines this afternoon. City storm sirens were activated at 3:32 p.m. In all, City emergency personnel responded to 57 calls for assistance during a two-and a-half hour period, but there was no serious property damage and no one was injured.

City crews will work for the next few hours to clear tree limbs that are blocking roadways. Most of the tree limb damage was located on the southwest side of the city near the Dallas North Tollway.  One tree limb fell across two parked cars, another fell across a front porch. City crews put barricades in place at several intersections due to high water. All barricades were removed before 5 p.m. CERT members were used to keep people away from two downed power line locations.  Power remains out at addresses throughout the community.
