Join Flick Fest for LitFest for a screening of the 2021 heartwarming film, 12 Mighty Orphans, along with panel discussion led by Highland Park High School sports commentator, Jae Ellis. The 2021 movie is set in the DFW area in the 1930s and stars Dallas’s own Luke Wilson.

Flick Fest is the primary fundraising event for HP LitFest and supports literacy and the appreciation of literature within HPISD.  Donations of $35 or more include the movie screening, discussion, a beverage, and popcorn.

On Wednesday, February 8, the Angelika lobby doors open at 6pm and the movie begins at 7pm. Make your $35/person donation at hplitfest.com/flick-fest/ and join us on Feb. 8.

12 Mighty Orphans is the remarkable and inspirational story of a Fort Worth orphanage, its scrappy, ragtag boys, and the selfless man who created one of the greatest football teams in Texas history.  Adapted from the book by New York Times bestselling author and local sportswriter Jim Dent, the Masonic Home Mighty Mites team reminds us of triumph over the greatest obstacles.  Starring Luke Wilson, Robert Duvall, and Martin Sheen, 12 Mighty Orphans is a true story of hope and heroes during the Great Depression. Highland Park football fans will especially enjoy looking for the Scots in the film.

Flick Fest is generously underwritten by Elliott & Elliott of Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate.
