Work From Home…In Style

What happens when a woman wants it ALL…? She gets it!

Clear goals, a sensible budget and a great design team culminated into this super fun work (and relax) from home space for this busy executive, wife and mom!

The NAI team was charged with hitting several deliverables for one of our most fun and discerning clients. And, boy did we have a blast creating this space with her, repurposing her former attic, now personal hideaway! Let’s start with the wishes…

An Elevated Home Office for Productivity and Style

Since our client works from home, participating in many video calls, a functional workspace was a MUST.

  • Plenty of natural light for mental energy and well-lit video calls as well as light control for adjusting glare and climate control as the day progressed.
  • The ability to sit/stand at her desk throughout the day
  • An enviable back drop for video calls that represents professionalism and her personal style
The Perfect Personal Retreat

Since our client needs a break with quiet time to herself, a personal lounging area was a MUST.

  • A “go to” spot that’s all her own when she wants to read, work on her laptop on her lap, take a nap or just enjoy a cup of coffee
  • A personal beverage center so she doesn’t have to go downstairs for refreshments
A Serene Escape for Wellness

Since our client needs to decompress from her busy life and escape every day stressors in a healthy way, a relaxation area was a MUST.

  • A private meditation area and yoga spot
  • An inspiring environment with soft décor and lighting, conducive to her various moods.

Her wishes were our commands. We love unique projects and this was an exciting task to wrap our minds around. We put our “creative” on and went to work for the perfect multi-function space. How the NAI team delivered…

1. Windows were preserved at the front of the house (formerly in the attic), despite the short walls to give the room charm and natural light. Skylights were added to expand the natural light on the vaulted ceiling to ensure the room stays well-lit all day long. Lastly, remote controlled shades were installed so that the homeowner can ultimately control how much light is needed at various times of the day. A sit/stand desk in optic white gives her a soft look, with oodles of function. Wire management, a small drawer for essentials and height adjustment at the touch of a button are all features she now enjoys! Her textured wallpaper, custom wall art and accessorized console serve as her personalized back drop for zoom calls.

2. A comfy sofa/chaise upholstered in performance fabric, a soft rug and textured ottoman poufs were furnished for lounging, napping or snuggling up with a good book and beverage. End tables, a floor lamp and a reupholstered, newly painted antique family heirloom chair completed the lounge area and balances out the space. A custom cabinet was designed and built into a corner previously deemed unusable to house a beverage fridge and coffee bar accouterments.

3. The remaining floor space in the room was purposely kept clear and a minimal low shelf was added to house a few relaxation essentials such as her yoga mat, towel and some green plants. A soft and airy ceiling fixture provides ambient lighting when supplemental light is needed. The client’s paper airplane art was installed to create a whimsical and airy feeling.

At NAI, a project is not a success unless we achieve the clients’ goals. The ultimate results…

  1. She can now present herself on her video calls in amazing lighting at any time of day, remain comfortable whether standing or sitting and feel like she’s representing her true professional personality with her amazing back drop.
  2. The lounge area is complete for her to enjoy comfortably all by herself, or if she chooses to invite a furry visitor to join her. Beverages are only steps away from her desk or sofa, so she stays refreshed and hydrated all day long.
  3. The meditation/yoga area is softly appointed with an organic touch, allowing the client to enter into her Zen space whenever the need arises. Her single shelf contains all of her needs neatly and minimally and the area feels lighthearted and calm.

The client could not be happier with her new home office space and is so excited to have this long-anticipated dream come to life. Mission Accomplished!
