McCarthy Building Companies Inc. kicked off the first week of school with Mi Escuelita Preschool by donating 12 laptops to the Mi Escuelita Crossover campus. Four members of the McCarthy team hand-delivered laptops into the classroom where the children and teachers will use them to incorporate innovative teaching methods and assist in the learning experience. McCarthy employees began their partnership with the Mi Escuelita organization more than a year ago by building bikes and wagons for the children. Since then, McCarthy has provided their handy services to a few of the preschool locations and takes time once a month to read to the preschoolers. Mi Escuelita Preschool provides early childhood education to low income at-risk children in the Dallas area.

“I’m excited to be entering my second year as a volunteer reader for Mi Escuelita Preschool,” said Kim Gibbons, McCarthy executive assistant and volunteer. “It is a rewarding feeling to know that the student’s look forward to our story time, and it provides a great opportunity for McCarthy to help the youth in our community.”

The laptops were donated through McCarthy’s “Heart Hats” community involvement program, which is dedicated to encouraging, supporting and recognizing McCarthy employees’ volunteer efforts in a variety of causes to ensure real needs are being met in communities where employees work, live and play.
