Lady Scot Softball Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Night on March 1st

The 2019 Lady Scots Varsity Softball team has played two solid weeks of softball! 

After a tough loss against Frisco Reedy, the Lady Scots have won five of their last six games -- scoring 44 total runs, including a 15-0 shutout of W.T. White. 

Players with multiple hits each game included Katie Reenan, Grace Brown, Dawson Dabboussi, Lilli Reenan, Ava Sims and Ava White.  Ava Sims also had her first home run of the season sending a solo shot over the fence in left field.  Pitchers Claire Walker and Lilli Reenan have had strong pitching performances in the circle.  Team speed has resulted in 22 stolen bases over the last six games from Grace Brown, Dawson Dabboussi, Ava Sims, Claire Walker, Oliva Melley, Shelby Pettit, Lilli Reenan and Ava White.

District play kicked-off this past Tuesday, February 26 with a 17-4 over Newman Smith.  In that game, junior short-stop Ava Sims racked up five hits (3 singles and 2 doubles) while junior hurler Claire Walker pitched a complete game and recorded 8 strike outs.  Eight different players logged stolen bases in the game.  

Fastpitch softball action continues at home on Friday, March 1 when the Lady Scots honor their HPHS teachers on Teacher Appreciation Night at the HPHS Lady Scot Softball Field. 

The recognition ceremony will begin at 5:45 pm with first-pitch against Dallas Conrad at 6:00 pm.
