HarborChase of the Park Cities Invites the Public to Participate in Holiday Gift Bag Project

HarborChase of the Park Cities (a community of luxury senior residences) is inviting the public to participate in its summer collection drive benefiting the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA), a nonprofit organization that helps people age with dignity and independence. The VNA Holiday Gift Project provides gift bags stuffed with full-size toiletry items to VNA Meals on Wheels and VNA Hospice Care Patients. From now until August 2, the public is encouraged to drop full-size items such as shampoo, lotions, toothpaste, bar soap and more at the community (located at 5917 Sherry Lane). Donations can be dropped off at the community’s front desk seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“It’s never too early to start thinking about helping others during the holidays,” said Molly Meyer, director of life enrichment. “We have many residents who have already contributed, and that just shows the kindness in their hearts. These are simple items that will make a difference in the lives of so many. VNA has positively impacted older adults in the Dallas area for many years, and we couldn’t think of a better nonprofit to partner with for this drive. We hope the public will join us in making sure every senior served by this organization has something to open this holiday season.”

Like HarborChase of the Park Cities, VNA has a passion for serving older adults. The Holiday Gift Bag Project benefits just two of the many programs VNA offers for seniors. The Meals on Wheels program delivers freshly prepared meals to 4,000 Dallas County residents each week, and VNA Hospice Care is one of the oldest, most experienced hospice providers in Texas. The senior living community understands the items received from this drive may be the only presents the seniors open this holiday season, and they want to do everything they can to put a smile on their faces.

“We are honored to participate in our first summer collection drive at the community and know we will exceed our expectations with the help of other residents and the public,” said Kathleen Donnelly, business development coordinator at HarborChase of the Park Cities. “Giving back is something we pride ourselves in at the community. We have hosted multiple drives benefiting local nonprofit organizations and businesses, including Hope Supply Co. and Scottish Rite. We hope when residents, associates and the public are out at the grocery store and picking up toiletries for themselves that they grab a few extra items to help those less fortunate. We are excited to tally up the number of items in August to see just how many people we are able to help. Our doors are open each day, and our associates are eagerly awaiting the donations.”
