Honorary Chef Co-Chair Eric Dreyer, Executive Chef of the family-inspired Ellie’s Restaurant & Lounge at HALL Arts Hotel

For the last six years, the Dallas 24 Hour Club has relied upon the Dallas All-Star Chef Classic, a traditional in-person dining event, to raise funds critical to their mission to provide safe, sober transitional living for homeless men and women seeking a brand new life away from drugs and alcohol.  The recent pandemic has created much hesitancy around public gatherings, with a resurgence of cases forecasted for the Fall, so this year The 24 is pivoting and will instead, produce a cookbook featuring recipes from Dallas chefs that will be titled, Cooking At Home: A Collection Of Recipes Created By Dallas’ Top Chefs From Their Home To Yours.

The shelter at home orders brought on by the pandemic has given rise to an increase in the number of people cooking and baking at home. In one recent survey, 54 percent of respondents said they are cooking more than before the pandemic, 75 percent said they have become more confident in the kitchen and 51 percent said they will continue to cook more after the crisis ends. So, in keeping with that – The 24 has asked select Dallas chefs to submit recipes that they make at home for their families. Meals that are approachable and relatable that will create a cookbook that is fun, informative and useful. Anastacia Quiñones-Pittman (AQ) Executive Chef of the trendy José Restaurant and Eric Dreyer, Executive Chef of the family-inspired Ellie’s Restaurant & Lounge at HALL Arts Hotel have joined our team as Honorary Chef Chairs. Over 40 recipes will be included from Sebastien Archambault, Executive Chef of The Mansion Restaurant at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek; Jon Bonnell, Owner and Executive Chef of Bonnell’s Restaurant Group; Chef and Restauranteur Uno Immanivong of Red Stix Asian Street Food; Executive Chef John Kleifgen of Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse; Michael McCoy of Cooking with The Real McCoy; Chef & Owner of LOCAL, Tracy Miller; Janice Provost, Executive Chef & Proprietor, Parigi; Chef, Author and Humanitarian Stephan Pyles of Stephan Pyles Concepts; Kent Rathbun, Owner and Chef of Rathbun Test Kitchen and Imoto; Luke Rogers, Executive Chef of Savor in Klyde Warren Park; Chef Abraham Salum from Salum Restaurant; Owner & Chef Curtis Stone from Georgie by Curtis Stone; Tony Street, Owner and Chef of Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse; and Manny Vera, Executive Chef-Partner of Truluck’s to name a few.

“I love the theme of this cookbook because it showcases the love we give to our own families. Cooking At Home will give the reader a chance to peek into our dining rooms - one recipe at a time,” said Anastacia Quiñones. “I am honored to support The 24 and serve as Honorary Chef Chair for this project because the work they provide to those seeking recovery from addiction is so needed.”

This project is being led by Honorary Chairs, Vicki and Bruce Stensrud; Chairs Kathy and Larry Helm; and Underwriting Chair, Robin Bagwell. In 2019 alone, the Dallas 24 Hour Club helped almost 600 people get off the streets, find employment, and learn to live a sober life. In order to raise the necessary funds to continue their mission, your support is needed now more than ever because they are seeing an unprecedented number of people who suffer from substance abuse being very negatively impacted during this very stressful time. More are becoming homeless and in need of the type of services The 24 offers.

Pre-sales of the cookbook opened July 8 with copies shipping November 1. Cost is $43.00 with discounts for bulk orders of 20 or more copies. https://www.dallas24hourclub.org/chef
