Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC), a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that sponsors and operates life care communities, named Luis Argote executive director of Edgemere, its premier senior living community in Dallas.
Stan Waterhouse, president and CEO of SQLC, made the announcement, adding that Argote will play a strategic role at Edgemere, which is in the midst of an extensive $36 million renovation and expansion project set for completion in the first quarter of 2018. Argote was selected based upon his stellar performance with luxury brands in the hospitality industry, excellent leadership skills and detailed attention to serving residents and guests.
“Luis is a tremendous asset to SQLC and to Edgemere, bringing decades of extraordinary leadership and accomplishments rooted in a strong desire to continually elevate the living experience through hospitality,” said Waterhouse. “He is a person who believes that seeking perfection is a goal that never ends, and his values are reflective of SQLC’s vision that Edgemere will always be the community of choice in Dallas.”
“This is an exciting and tremendous opportunity to serve the residents of Edgemere and work with SQLC, an industry leader in senior living,” said Argote. “At the root of the exceptional living experience at Edgemere is a never-ending desire to create outstanding service – always striving to be better – and having the intuition to know and deliver what our residents desire and deserve. In my experience in the hospitality industry, I would create magic in our guests’ minds for the few days they would stay with us. Now, at Edgemere, we can create that same feeling over many years, and we have the chance to truly get to know each resident and cater to individual likes and personal nuances. We will accomplish that in part by ensuring our team has the best work environment, which will enable us to attract and retain talented people who are highly focused and dedicated to serving our residents.”
Argote is a seasoned international hospitality executive, having managed Four Seasons Hotels properties in Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica and the United States over a span of 30
years. He also held general management positions with Ritz Carlton and management positions with Westin Hotels. Under his leadership, numerous properties received prestigious industryrecognitions and awards.
In addition to operations responsibilities at Edgemere, Argote will oversee the completion of thecommunity’s expansion, which will add more than 75,000 square feet to the community, including 35 new residences, eight new assisted living apartment homes, 12 new memory care suites and 15 new private skilled nursing suites. The community currently offers 304 independent living apartments, 60 assisted living apartments, 31 memory care suites and 72 private skilled nursing suites. Bridging the gap between the Italian elegance that Edgemere is known for and the modern luxuries that current and future retirees desire, the project also included the addition of a state-of-the-art performing arts theater. The nearly two-story, 6,000-square-foot building is located in the center courtyard and has a bar and lounge, arched ceilings with exposed wooden beams and a stage fit for world-renowned speakers and performers. The Plaza’s common areas will also be updated with indoor/outdoor courtyards and renovated dining areas, and an underground parking garage will be added to provide additional parking for family members and guests.
