The American Cancer Society (ACS) is creating new volunteer Area Boards in 46 geographic areas across the country. The new Dallas/Fort Worth Area Executive Board was announced by Executive Director Lolette May on November 9.

Area Executive Board members are dedicated, community-minded leaders who have the influence, passion and connection to mobilize people and organizations to support the Society’s mission to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer.

In North Texas, the American Cancer Society provided more than 22,058 services to nearly 8,000 cancer patients. It funded $7.7 million in grants to 13 researchers in North Texas. 47 Nobel Prize-winning scientists have received research funding from the Society. The Dallas Cattle Baron’s Ball is the Society’s largest single fundraiser, raising $3.5 million. 33 local Relay for Life events with 2,805 cancer survivors and 14,536 participants raised $2.5 million.

The new co-chairs for the board are Clare Graca, Chief Business Development Officer, Integrative Emergency Services and Sara Ramos, Senior Vice President, PNC Financial Services. Each brings a wealth of talent and experience to their roles.
