It was obvious that the children and young adults were the center of attention when the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League held its second annual Fashion Notes Women’s and Children’s Fashion Presentation and Luncheon at The Warwick Melrose Hotel on May 28. DSOL members and their families modeled the clothes so there were many familiar faces on the runway.

Cathy and Michael R. Haynes, Sr. served as Honorary Chairs. Event co-chairs were Mari Epperson and Sharon Ballew. Stanley Korshak provided the adult fashions and Kid Biz provided the children’s outfits.

The Warwick Melrose Hotel was the underwriter for the event allowing all proceeds to benefit the education and community programs for the Dallas Symphony.  Additional sponsors included Veritex Community Bank and Heritage Auctions.

A classical piece was performed by former Young Strings student Jordan Rhyne who now a senior at Texas Christian University. The Young Strings program is a favorite of the League’s members so it was very special to have the talented young student perform at this formal gathering.

Fashion Notes was launched last spring and its success was recognized by the Volunteer Council of the League of American Orchestras. Fashion Notes has won a Roundtable Award in the annual Gold Book competition which will be presented at the League’s National Conference in Baltimore, MD from June 9-11.

The annual Gold Book competition recognizes outstanding projects created and implemented by volunteer associations of symphony orchestras throughout the United States and in Canada. Projects are judged by the League’s Volunteer Council each fall; those projects receiving top rankings are presented to fellow volunteers at the League’s annual Conference the following spring. All of the submitted projects will be featured online at www.goldbookonline.org.
