The long anticipated new White Rock YMCA facility opened with great fanfare on June 17with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony hosted by the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce.

Guests included YMCA officials  Eric Schenkelberg, YMCA Executive Director; Gordon Echtenkamp YMCA CEO; and Kyle Owens, Board Chairman with political dignitaries including State Rep. Kenneth Sheets, Matt Garcia representing Congressman Pete Sessions, and City Council Elect Mark Clayton. Many present and former board members were in attendance for this momentous occasion.

The new facility is situated on a three acre lot with a great front yard facing Gaston. The Y will feature an outdoor family pool and spray park, but the weather has delayed the opening. It includes a 15,000 square foot wellness center with state of the art cardio and fitness equipment. Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake has dedicated office space for wellness consultations. Several multipurpose areas will provide space for traditional wellness and community programming. Features also include a babysitting area and a playground.
