The Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce presented its 2016 Teacher of the Year Awards on November 15 at the Lakehill Preparatory Schools Alice and Erle Nye Family Environmental Science Center. The 2016 winners are Kent Benson, Robert E. Lee Elementary; Shelly Thibodaux, Robert T. Hill Middle School; John David du Mars, Emmett J. Conrad High School; Casey Pike, Lakehill Preparatory School, Amy Delaney, Dallas Academy; Amy Duke, Bishop Lynch High School.  

Each winner received a plaque and $250 gift card and each school will receive a $100 check.  

The purpose is to recognize full-time educators who are providing outstanding education for their respective students. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs that are serving to improve and promote education.
