Jam

Dallas Pets Alive! hopes to help musically inclined dog-lovers find a pup they can jam with. That’s why they teamed up with Dallas-based advertising and marketing firm, Dieste to create “Spoty Play,” curated playlists on Spotify for adoptable dogs based on each dog’s personality traits. Whether you’re into classic rock, indie/folk, jazz or pop music, Dallas Pets Alive! has an adoptable dog that matches your taste in music.

“Dallas Pets Alive! has a strong history of incorporating music and live performances into our events and creating curated playlists for our dogs on Spotify is a natural extension of that,” said Leslie Sans, executive director of Dallas Pets Alive!. “Music has a unique ability to bring people of all walks of life together and we’re hoping that it will help bring our rescue animals and possible adopters together, too.”

The idea for Spoty Play originated with the insight that people are more likely to adopt pets that they are familiar with and relate to. The best home for a pet is always a home that welcomes each dog’s uniqueness, and Spoty Play allows listeners to familiarize themselves with adoptable dogs and their different personalities.

“Chances are, if you love the playlist, you’ll love the dog,” said Ciro Sarmiento, creative chief at Dieste. “If one dog in particular catches your eye, or ear, you can click through to that dog’s bio on the Dallas Pets Alive website and start the adoption process.”

The Spoty Play campaign recently launched with a video featuring Jam the “dog,” who has a cassette-recorder for a head, a boombox body and headphone ears. Jam is made up of old-school music paraphernalia to emphasize that older dogs, just like older music, are cool. A dog’s personality and attitude, whether they’re mellow, high-energy, shy, outdoorsy, or anywhere in between correlates to countless songs, genres and bands. Spoty Play and Jam illustrate that adopters can discover their perfect pet through music.
