The Compound at Pegasus Park, the food services outlet, partnered with Notre Dame School of Dallas to provide students with an opportunity to gain experience with a new job skill.
The Notre Dame School of Dallas educates students with developmental disabilities and facilitates their integration into society. The school was established in 1963 and serves students aged 6 to 22.
Every Wednesday since September 2022, four students of Notre Dame School visit The Compound at Pegasus Park, the building’s onsite dining venue, for 30 minutes after the lunch service hours to prepare the facility for the next day. Students help wipe down the service counters, restock napkins and condiment trays, and help get everything ready to open for lunch the following day.
“The students are always helpful to our team and significantly cut down preparation time for the next day’s food and beverage service,” says Sharon Hage, Food and Beverage Director for Pegasus Park. “The entire staff loves seeing them on campus and is honored to help them learn new skills.”
The partnership has helped students learn about food service, become interactive and confident in their tasks, learned how to navigate walking through the campus to their job location, and have integrated into the flow of life at Pegasus Park.
“The partnerships with local businesses are vitally important to our students by helping them integrate into the workforce and learn new skills to carry into longer term employment once they graduate from Notre Dame School of Dallas,” says Dr. Caroline O’Brien, President of the Notre Dame School of Dallas. “The students also learn social skills and build confidence as they overcome fears of new situations and mastering responsibilities.”
The Compound at Pegasus Park has multiple food service offerings for tenants. It is open daily within the lobby of the office tower and offers dine-in or carry-out, with choices from a selection of chef-crafted or made-to-order meals.
Pegasus Park is a 25-acre mixed-use office campus designed to bolster local biotech, social impact and corporate innovation that boasts state-of-the-art facilities and amenities. The Pegasus Park campus consists of more than 750,000 square feet across multiple buildings, including an 18-story office tower where The Compound is located.
