Texans Can Academies Named Outstanding Latino Nonprofit at D CEO's 2018 Latino Business Awards

For the third consecutive year, the 2018 Latino Business Awards hosted by D CEO magazine recognized successful Latino community leaders, companies and organizations making an impact in the North Texas region. The awards specifically highlighted each nominee’s dedication to their organizations.

Among this year’s five categories were: Outstanding Latino Business (Small Company), Outstanding Latino Business (Midsize Company), Outstanding Latino Business (Large Company), Outstanding Latino Nonprofit, Latino Advocate and Latino Executive of the Year.

The organizations recognized as finalists for the 2018 Outstanding Latino Nonprofit were  Avance North Texas, Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation, The Concilio, Trinity River Mission and Texans Can Academies. Texans Can Academies and their CEO, Richard Marquez, were recognized for their dedication in serving the non-traditional student.

“It was an honor to myself and Texans Can Academies to be recognized among an incredible group of nonprofit organizations in Dallas this year,” Richard Marquez, President and CEO of Texans Can Academies said. “We will continue to pursue our mission of bettering the lives of young students, and ensure we provide the tools necessary to lead lives of economic independence following high school graduation.”

Texans Can Academies provides an educational route for youth and non-traditional students in need, who would otherwise not have the means to receive a proper high school education. Many of the students who attend the schools experience barriers to their education such as poverty, little access to basic resources, early parenthood and more. Today, Texans Can has 14 campuses located in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio and has impacted the lives of over 151,000 students.
