It may still be the first school year in session for Texans Can Academy - Dallas North, but its students are striving for more than just their high school diplomas. To date, fourteen students have taken and passed the Microsoft Specialist Certification exams. The students will be recognized as Microsoft Office professionals with the certification, which will showcase their skills and abilities in future career opportunities.  Texans Can Academy - Dallas North’s goal is to have each member of their June graduating class leave campus with a high school diploma and a Microsoft Certification.

The Microsoft Certified Professional program enables IT professionals to validate their technical expertise through rigorous, industry-proven and industry-recognized exams. Microsoft Certified Professional exams cover a wide range of Microsoft products, technologies and solutions.

“We are incredibly proud of our students that have taken the exams to gain their Microsoft Office Specialist certification,” said Texans Can Academy - Dallas North Principal Rufus Johnson. “Our students are the perfect candidates for the certification due to their determination beyond the classroom. We are committed to providing our students the opportunities and tools needed for a successful college or career path after they graduate and leave us.”

Texans Can Academy - Dallas North is the organization’s newest dropout prevention and recovery campus offering services and resources to at-risk students beyond the classroom. The school focuses on helping interested students achieve Microsoft Certifications as well as providing opportunities like dual-credit courses for students that want to continue with college, 24/7 counseling, Care Vans that provide immunizations and flu shots, complimentary eye exams and eyeglasses, college and career resources and transportation and more.

Texans Can Academies offers students, aged 14 to 21, a second chance at earning their high school diploma instead of a General Education Development (GED).
