Texans Can Academies announced today that they will pay full salaries and wages to all employees during school closures as a result of the conoravirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).   If schools are closed and classes are not in session, all employees will not be expected to use their Personal Time Off to continue their full salaries or contracted wages.

“It is important to our organization that our employees are not concerned about their salaries and paychecks while their campuses are closed,” said Richard Marquez, CEO of Texans Can Academies.  “Our staff is one big family so we are going to be sure to take care of everyone during this unplanned absence from work. We don’t want our teachers, administrators, office and campus support members to worry about finances during this time.”

Marquez continued, “We will stay in touch with our students as we can and hope they spend time reading during their time away from school. We are leveraging Google Classroom so that our students may connect with teachers for on-line classroom instruction.”

Texans Can Academies schools will follow the closure guidelines of each of the school districts where they are located.  Updates about individual campus closings will be posted on their website for students and parents to follow.

Texans Can Academies are a unique network of 14 charter schools located in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. The schools are tuition-free, open enrollment, public high schools of choice serving students who have struggled in a traditional high school setting. To date, more than 162,139 youth have been given a second chance at life with the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
