Texans Can Academies and Cars for Kids are accepting cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more.

While we are sheltering in place and staring out our windows at an old, and even no longer running, vehicle that we haven’t taken the time to move out of the way, now is a good time to cross that off your list. Donate your old vehicle to Texans Can Academies and Cars for Kids! Cars for Kids is still picking up donations of cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, trailers and more at no cost. Perhaps you have been wanting to donate but have been busy with work and other activities, or have been away from home more often than not and now at home with extra time on your hands.

With a fast and easy process, now is the perfect time for donors who are sheltering in place to donate a vehicle with no hassle and no social contact. The tow truck drivers will make an appointment to pick up your donation, and you don’t have to go outside while they take your vehicle - you can arrange a date and time for them to arrive, leave the keys, title and any other important information on the car seat, on your porch or anywhere else convenient and the drivers will take care of the rest and will leave a receipt for the donor in a designated spot. All donations benefit Texans Can Academies’ eight Dallas / Fort Worth area tuition-free, open enrollment and public high schools of choice.

Worried your vehicle may not meet requirements or don’t have paperwork handy? Cars for Kids offers a turnkey program for donating cars, trucks, motorcycles and heavy equipment – running or not. Pick up the phone to speak with donation specialists - it is as easy as one phone call. The nonprofit provides free towing, your car is gone, you receive a tax write-off and you helped teenagers in our community. If the title is unavailable, Texans Can Cars for Kids’ title department has staff to help donors obtain duplicate titles. Donors receive the highest possible value for their cars when the vehicle goes to auction.

Donating your old vehicle is a win-win. The donor gets rid of an eyesore taking up space in the garage while also receiving a tax write-off. And students like Mariano get a second chance at completing their education. Mariano’s mother died of cancer while he was in high school. He took a job to help pay the bills, and he spent most of his time caring for her while she suffered through chemotherapy. Mariano enrolled in a Texans Can school - is making straight As – and dreams of being an elementary school teacher.
