Texans Can Academy - Dallas Oak Cliff worked with a local branch of Bank of America to provide students information on banking, the importance of financial responsibility and stability, and the benefits of having a bank account.
After learning about finances from the Bank of America representatives, approximately 24 students established free student checking accounts. The representatives will visit the school again on May 24 during the high school’s college and career fair to provide more information about banking services, being smart about finances, and to set up additional complimentary student accounts.
Texans Can Academies - Dallas Oak Cliff contacted the bank for this partnership after eighteen students gained employment last December with Pecan Deluxe Candy Factory. The newly gainfully employed students needed information about direct deposits for their paychecks and how to manage their checking accounts, so the school coordinated with and hosted bank representatives to teach the students financial literacy.
