An unfinished attic may seem like wasted space that collects dust and clutter for many. From dust bunnies to retired household supplies, attics have the reputation of being an unpleasant room for storage.Kitchen Designs Concepts broke the mold on this theory and transformed an unfinished attic space into a bedroom sanctuary fit for a princess. The transformation from pumpkin to royal carriage will have any fairy godmother in awe.
The main goal of this project was to create a cozy environment, but also transform an unpolished attic into a teenage girl-approved hangout spot for friends. The Cinderella-like transformation created space for a secluded bedroom that is light, airy, and inviting.
The blank canvas that was an old attic used to store unneeded items, provided Kitchen Design Concepts with the opportunity to utilize natural divisions created by the brick chimney and staircase. The divisions created enough space to form a sleeping area, makeup station, closets, and even a lounge area.
The transformed space is every teenage girl’s dream. The Kitchen Design Concepts designers installed new LED downlights and decorative pendants, replaced old windows with new ones, repaired and painted brick chimneys, repaired and sanded large pine plank floors, implemented an oil-rubbed bronze handrail for the staircase, and added finishing touches such as rugs, pillows, and furniture to create an inviting gathering space and comfortable bedroom.
The project won a National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) Contractor of the Year Award in the category of “Residental Interior.”
