For more than five years, Texans Can Academies have been using an innovative teaching method in their 13 schools across the state of Texas. Initially, the method was hard for the teachers to understand because it was different than anything they’d ever experienced, but the results were incredible. It is not hard to argue that lives were being changed in an extraordinary way.

The Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) program is designed to enhance the cognitive functions needed for academic learning through a series of exercises and special cognitive mediation techniques. The training program was founded in Israel and is based on the premise that the human brain can be rewired.

For 37 years the Feuerstein Institute Conference has been held in European countries and supported by the European Commission on Education. For the first time it will be held in the United States, in the metroplex, and Texans Can Academies is the host. The two-week international conference will be held Sunday, June 19 through Friday, June 30, 2017 at Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center. Decades of work and knowledge will be shared with other researchers, educators, parents, and business and medical professionals.

At the two week workshop and training event, attendees will take courses related to the FIE methods, become well versed and knowledgeable about the system and applications, participate in professional forums and seminars and learn from the FIE experts.

“Our students and educators have seen incredible results from using FIE,” says Richard A. Marquez, CEO of Texans Can Academies. “We’ve seen children of all ages and learning abilities take immediate strides forward after fully adopting this method. It’s our honor to host the FIE conference in Dallas and shine more light on a method that can significantly impact the lives of students around the nation and world in a positive way.”

The Feuerstein Institute has been conducting work in the area of neuroplasticity for over 50 years. Their groundbreaking methods have led to many discoveries and treatments, improving students' performance from Pre-K through college, as well as older adults, for those diagnosed with Down Syndrome, autism, brain trauma, dyslexia, hyperactive disorders, Alzheimer's and other brain-related challenges. The method teaches the process behind enhancing learning and thinking skills in a structured and organized way.

Texans Can Academies is the largest organization in the U.S. using FIE. They are training educators and utilizing FIE on their campuses with their students and sharing it with other interested organizations.

Students at all 13 Texans Can Academies’ high school campuses and children in the Wee Can Academy early childhood development centers are participating in this innovative and unique approach to improving academic performance. Texans Can and Wee Can teachers have been trained in the FIE methodology so that they can use it with their students and are seeing dramatic results in their classrooms.
