When a married couple sought to brighten and modernize their primary bathroom while solving for a serious lack of storage, they turned to Kitchen Design Concepts to reimagine the space.
With a focus on light, functionality, and seamless style integration, this remodel delivers a fresh, open feel that fits beautifully within their traditionally styled home while leaning into their evolving taste for modern and contemporary design.
Project Goals & Solutions:
-
Increase Storage: Create thoughtful storage solutions throughout the bathroom to reduce clutter and give every item a dedicated space. The husband’s side of the bathroom required strategic planning due to a narrow wall gap. KDC removed a central sink cabinet to accommodate a larger sink, flanked by shallower 18” cabinets. KDC used tiered drawers and storage systems to maximize vertical space and keep daily essentials organized. Push-to-open mirrored cabinets with built-in outlets offer both sleek design and hidden storage.
-
Enhance Natural Light & Open the Layout: Improve natural light flow, especially to areas like the husband’s vanity, which previously got almost no natural light. KDC redesigned the shower to be more open, bringing in light and creating a sense of separation and balance between both sides. The previous shower was boxed in with walls that visually and physically closed off the space. The closed-in shower made the entire bathroom feel like one cramped zone instead of a shared yet personal suite. The shower’s floating bench adds functionality without sacrificing space, giving an illusion of more room and “toe space” for comfort.
-
Integrate Smart, Tech-forward Features: Incorporating smart, tech-forward features like a smart toilet and customizable mirror lighting was also key enhancing both comfort and functionality. Subtle but impactful tech upgrades throughout the space offer daily convenience while maintaining the room’s clean, streamlined look.
Materials & Finishes:
-
Porcelain Tile: Durable porcelain tile was used on both floors and walls, offering texture and visual interest while being low-maintenance.
-
Quartz Countertops: Selected for its durability and sustainability, quartz adds a clean, modern touch and makes use of recycled waste in its manufacturing.
-
Brushed Gold Hardware: Transitional brushed gold fixtures add warmth and elegance while complementing the couple’s modernizing style.
-
Cabinet Style: Transitional-style cabinetry was selected to bridge the gap between the traditional structure of the home and the clients' contemporary preferences.
-
Warm Wood Tones: Mixed with sleek materials to add warmth and depth, balancing modern elements with a timeless feel.
The previous bathroom was dark, cramped, and closed off. After KDC’s thoughtful renovation, the bathroom is a cohesive, light-filled retreat that balances style and function.
