DALLAS: After much prayerful consideration and with a saddened heart, Council for Life has made the decision to cancel their Fall Celebrating Life Luncheon. Instead of hosting a large gathering, they will hold a small outdoor dinner for Table Hosts or those who would like to be Hosts for the minimum contribution of $2,500. The dinner, which has been generously underwritten, will showcase Council for Life’s 2020 beneficiaries, thank their Honorary Luncheon  Chairs, Lisa and Clay Cooley, and provide guests with an inspiring message from pro-life advocate and Super Bowl champion Benjamin Watson, who will be traveling to Dallas to be at the event. Raffle prizes include a chance to win a new car from Clay Cooley Auto Group and a diamond cross necklace from William Noble Rare Jewels.

“Every year, we look forward to gathering with you at our annual Celebrating Life Luncheon to stand together for life,” said 2019-2020 President, Cathy Sisk. “This was not a decision made lightly, but rather one on which we weighed the thoughtful feedback of our supporters and beneficiaries. At the forefront of our decision was how to maximize the funds that Council for Life grants to our beneficiaries.”

Council for Life remains committed to raising funds for its 19 outstanding Luncheon beneficiaries whose needs are now greater than ever. CFL’s hope is that the community will be moved to generously provide their support, knowing that every dollar will go directly to these organizations on the “front line,” actively furthering Council for Life’s mission of empowering women, men and youth to make life-affirming choices.

Since 2001, Council for Life has raised $8.29 million to fund a multitude of nonprofit agencies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. These agencies and their invaluable services include pregnancy resource centers, adoption, residential maternity homes, youth mentoring, parenting and life skills education, sexual risk avoidance and targeted media campaigns to reach women in unplanned pregnancies.

DALLAS,TEXAS: Council for Life announces that the featured speaker for the 2020 Celebrating Life Luncheon will be Benjamin Watson, NFL New England Patriot, Super Bowl Champion and Pro-Life Advocate.

At the age of 39, Benjamin Watson has accomplished the American Dream: He played 16 seasons in the NFL with the New England Patriots, the Cleveland Browns, the Baltimore Ravens and the New Orleans Saints and scored a championship ring in Super Bowl XXXIX. As a standout athlete in college, Benjamin excelled on the football field for both Duke University and the University of Georgia. It was no surprise that he was a first-round NFL draft selection and powerhouse in the NFL from that day forward.

But Watson's legacy goes well beyond his legendary speed and astounding athletic ability. As one of the most outspoken pro-life voices in media, Watson is passionate about protecting the lives of the most defenseless. He and his wife, Kirsten, have dedicated their time and resources to life-affirming agencies. This year, Watson is producing and starring in Divided Hearts of America, a moving film showcasing the beauty and dignity of every human life. He is partnering with notable pro-life advocates Alveda King, Ben Carson and Abby Johnson in the production of the film. Benjamin and Kirsten are the Founders of a nonprofit foundation, One More, dedicated to spreading the love and hope of Christ by meeting real needs, promoting education and providing enrichmenopportunities. They are the proud parents of seven children, the youngest of whom are their twin daughters born in April 2019.

Honorary Co-Chairs for this year’s luncheon are Lisa and Clay Cooley, a power couple with deep roots in North Texas. Clay, a Dallas native, worked his way up through multiple, local car dealerships in the 1980s. With Lisa’s encouragement, he started the Clay Cooley Automotive Group in 1998, which now includes 13 dealerships employing nearly 1,300 people. The Cooleys have raised three children and are active philanthropists. They invest their time and resources to support dozens of nonprofit organizations, with a particular passion for organizations that positively impact children.

Council for Life Board members and community leaders Shannon Graham and Lisa Luby Ryan are the dynamic team serving as the Luncheon Co-Chairs. Graham and Ryan are unwavering in their devotion to being tireless, bold advocates for life in their extensive charitable endeavors.

The 19th annual Celebrating Life Luncheon will be held on October 29, 2020 at the Omni Dallas Hotel. To protect the safety of guests, Council for Life will follow recommended social distancing and health guidelines and make any necessary seating adjustments. If, due to COVID-19, hosting a live Luncheon is not possible, an announcement will be made no later than October 13, 2020.

Council for Life has raised $8.29 million to fund a multitude of nonprofit agencies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. These agencies and their invaluable services include pregnancy resource centers, adoption, residential maternity homes, youth mentoring, parenting and life skills education, sexual risk avoidance and targeted media campaigns to reach women in unplanned pregnancies.

Proceeds from the Celebrating Life Luncheon will benefit 19 organizations on the “front line,” actively furthering Council for Life’s mission to empower women, men and youth to make life-affirming choices. “It is a privilege and honor to work alongside our beneficiaries as we continue to change the conversation and the culture to value every life,” said Cathy Sisk, 2020 President of Council for Life.

2020 Life Lessons Box Lunch Chair Rivers Teske, Dr. Ashley Hickman Zink, Kelly Crawford and Daniel Crawford of Abel Speaks.

DALLAS: Council for Life hosted their annual Life Lessons Box Lunch educational event on January 29, 2020, at the Museum of Biblical Art. Close to 300 people gathered to learn how to help parents choose LIFE and choose JOY in the face of loss when their unborn child has been given a life-limiting diagnosis.

Daniel and Kelly Crawford, Founders of Abel Speaks, courageously shared their personal story of how rather than giving their son an abortion, they gave him a name. Abel Paul Crawford's life story continues to comfort and support families who have chosen to carry a child with a life-limiting diagnosis during pregnancy.

Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist Dr. Ashley Hickman Zink spoke from the perspective of the medical community and shared from her experience interacting with these families on a regular basis. All three speakers pointed out that sometimes families given a dire diagnosis have babies born healthy with no abnormalities.

“We are so grateful that the Crawfords and Dr. Zink shared the importance of the dignity, worth and beauty of each and every human life,” stated Cathy Sisk,Council for Life’s 2020 President. Life Lessons Box Lunch Chair, Rivers Teske, agreed saying, “Who are we to judge what is perfect and what is not in such an imperfect world. We must support and love each human situation to its fullest.”

DALLAS: Council for Life hosted the 5th annual Together for Life Pastors’ Breakfast on January 14, 2020, at the Belo Mansion for over 100 area pastors. The goal of this event is to bring pastors and ministry leaders together from around the city to encourage, inspire and equip them to "Stand Together for Life" in their churches and communities.

Keynote speaker Mike Spencer of Life Training Institute gave a powerful talk entitled “The Pastor and Abortion: Compassionate Shepherding in a Disposable Culture.” Mike reminded attendees that we are called as Shepherds of God to protect the unborn, and that "when the Shepherd goes silent, babies die." Mike equipped the audience in a straightforward way with essential tools and intellectual grounding to articulate the pro-life message on the issue of abortion. The Reverend Chris Wheel of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship provided the welcome and invocation. The Right Reverend Philip Jones of All Saints Dallas called guests to action to learn more about Council for Life’s mission and events.

Thanks to the dedication of Pastors' Breakfast Chairs, Lee Anne Morris and Claudia Jones, the Breakfast was a huge success, imparting to attendees impactful, encouraging messages about being effective advocates for Life for the flocks to which they are entrusted.

"Council for Life is standing in the gap and bringing church leaders together to initiate conversations and embolden the Christian community to end abortion in our day. Mike Spencer shared truths every pastor needs to hear and see in order to lead those God has entrusted to our care." stated Pastor Bruce Kendrick, Director of Life Initiatives at Watermark Community Church.

DALLAS: More than 370 businessmen and community leaders attended Council for Life’s “Men Stand for Life Breakfast” at the Dallas Country Club on Monday, February 24. The twelth annual breakfast featured a call to action to stand up for the truth surrounding abortion by Shawn Carney, international speaker, author and CEO, President and Founder of 40 Days for Life.

"When we decide that this is the defining moral issue of our time and for every generation until it ends, that’s when our world begins to change, that’s when our homes begin to change, that’s when our workplaces change and the little daily things that we do,” Shawn Carney boldly stated. “Because if we’re not standing up for life, heart and head, we simply can’t expect others to do it."

Longtime Council for Life supporters Rebecca and Bobby Lutz co-chaired the event. “We are so proud to chair this event because it creates the dialogue that life is not just a women’s issue. Rebecca and I are proud to be part of an organization that educates the community to shift that perception,” said Bobby Lutz. “We are so pleased and grateful to hear from Shawn Carney and hope it inspires the men in our community to stand up for every life.”
