Council for Life has a lot to be thankful for this year as the organization celebrated the 20th Annual Celebrating Life Luncheon on Wednesday, November 17, at the Omni Hotel downtown. The hotel’s Dallas Ballroom was overflowing with a sold-out crowd of 1,300 people coming together to CELEBRATE LIFE and the faithful support CFL has received over the last 20 years. Thanks to the incredible generosity of so many, Council for Life's 20th annual Celebrating Life Luncheon raised a record-breaking amount for 20 organizations that assist North Texans facing unplanned pregnancies.
Brilliant and world renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson was a highlight for attendees, along with a moving performance by multi-award winning Christian music artist Matthew West. Dr. Carson thanked Council for Life for the organization’s interest in the most important thing in humanity - Life. He reminded the packed ballroom that “abortion is the most barbaric thing imaginable” and quoting Proverbs 24:10, noted that we have a grave responsibility “when human beings are being slated for death.” Dr. Carson stressed that we must be courageous and willing to stand up for what we believe to be the nation of “morality, faith and decency'' that has historically characterized our country’s strength.
Matthew West began his performance with his hit "Unplanned" reminding attendees that every single heartbeat is a child of God. He challenged the room to be "the people who stay with those who are broken, who are hurting and who are contemplating whether or not they should choose Life."
Longtime Council for Life supporters Shannon Graham and Billye Turner served as the 2021 Luncheon Co-Chairs. Ann and David Carruth and Lisa and Kenny Troutt served as Honorary Chairs in recognition of their deep commitment to philanthropic and community efforts promoting the sanctity of life.
The Luncheon featured a special video highlighting the life-affirming work of three Council for Life beneficiaries: Thrive Women's Clinic, Viola's House and YoungLives, a ministry of Young Life. The video may be viewed here.
Since 2001, Council for Life has raised more than $10 million to fund more than 55 agencies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with life-affirming missions relating to the complex issues surrounding unplanned pregnancies. Council for Life’s 2021 President, Lee Ann Morris, shares, “Council for Life is grateful to our Luncheon underwriters, patrons and guests for helping us surpass our goal and making the funding of our exemplary beneficiaries possible.”
