Council for Life hosted the 5K Run for Life on April 4th at SMU Moody Coliseum. This year’s run was dedicated to the legacy of Doug Horn, a founding member of Men for Life and enthusiastic supporter of Council for Life. Doug’s children and grandchildren traveled from Atlanta and New York to support their father’s legacy at the Run for Life event. Run for Life celebrates the gift of adoption and selected Gladney Center for Adoption and Buckner Children and Family Services as the 2015 beneficiaries. Nearly 700 people from the community came out to show their support.

“We are so thankful to everyone who made Run for Life such a success this year,” said Mary Catherine Burford, Run for Life co-chair. “We want to thank Doug Horn’s family for their support, our committee of volunteers who worked tirelessly to execute the run, and the beneficiaries and families who participated in celebration of life and for adoption.”

“Run for Life is such an integral part of Council for Life’s mission,” said Shannon Cagnina, president of Council for Life. “It was such a joy to dedicate the run to the legacy of Doug Horn and his family, while joining with Gladney and Buckner as champions in serving children and families through the gift of adoption.”

Run for Life Race Day began with the National Anthem led by Dallas-based band Votary and a welcome announcement from mother-daughter co-chairs Mary Catherine and Paula Burford, followed by a 5K chip-timed race, Kid’s Race officiated by Priscilla Horn, bouncy house, Easter egg hunt, photo booth and special appearance by the Easter Bunny.
