Sgt. Lance Koppa with the Highland Park Department of Safety reported late Monday afternoon that the Town will commence ground spraying tonight after the Department of State Health Services confirmed a positive test for the West Nile Virus within Town limits.

The sample was taken from a Town mosquito trap in the 5300 block of Drexel Drive.

Spraying will begin the evening of Monday, Aug. 5 in Quadrant C, which includes all streets east of Preston Road and north of Beverly Drive in HP. The spraying will continue Tuesday, Aug. 6 and Wednesday, Aug. 7, starting at 10 p.m. each night and ending at 6 a.m., barring any poor weather conditions.

Just last week, the City of University Park reported its first human case of West Nile fever this year but said the juvenile male victim had not been hospitalized.
