Breakfast is revered as the most important meal of the day, and for good reasons. Of course, eating breakfast benefits your mind and metabolism, but there are more important factors. Notably, there’s coffee and mimosas. Also, anything with maple syrup on it can get drag us out of bed.

Recently, we surveyed our readers to find the best breakfast and brunch places in the Metroplex. The results are in, so see where to book your weekend reservations: 

Allen Café in Allen

Before it became Allen Café 15 years ago, the building housed the neighborhood Dairy Queen. Then the local owners renovated the building to create a homey atmosphere for its regular customers. At this eatery, you’ll find a dozen different omelets and homemade hash browns.

J Macklin’s in Coppell

At this “new American style” grill, you’ll find delicious food and an energized ambiance. In addition to serving lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers a popular weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas, J. Mack’s Famous Bacon Bloody Mary and World Famous Biscuit Beignets.

Crossroads Diner in Dallas

The diner was born when two renowned chefs, Tom Fleming and Carl Strelecki, crossed paths. Both chefs were inspired by their mothers’ home cooking and believed in serving value-driven dishes. The menu includes signature Stick Buns, memorable quiches and a range of frittatas.

Bubba’s Cooks Country in the Park Cities

Bubba’s brought southern comfort and charm to the Park Cities when it opened in 1981. Mary Beth and Paul (A.K.A. “Bubba”) popularized their family recipes, including yeast rolls and fried chicken, at the diner-style restaurant. Although Mary Beth has since passed on, her time-honored recipes serve as her legacy.

Poor Richard’s Café in Plano

Poor Richard’s has offered good food and friendly service for 40 plus years. Its menu of Texas home cooking includes a Big Tex Breakfast, a Pecan Waffle Breakfast and Apple Gingerbread Pancakes. Poor Richard’s is also known for serving the community through involvement in Plano Sunrise Rotary, Plano Christmas Cops and other organizations.
