Uptowners met for Coffee & Politics this morning at The Alcove. Today’s open discussion featured Ed Rankin, Libertarian candidate for U.S House of Representatives, Texas Congressional District 32.

Rankin explained he had a late start in politics, after serving as school board president for Carroll ISD. “I woke up one day about five or six years ago and realized neither party represented me,” he said.

A small group of interested Dallasites discussed what defines Libertarianism in today’s political climate. “Libertarianism is about non-force,” Rankin summarized.

Before emerging himself in local politics, Rankin worked in human resources management and pioneered PeopleSolutions, a company offering human resources management services.

This morning, Rankin patiently answered questions from the group and explained why he believes in the Libertarian party. His responses aligned with his campaign motto: “Principal Before Party."
