The Lady Scots varsity basketball team is advancing to the second round of the playoffs after beating Frisco Heritage in the first round by a score of 55-53 on Monday night at Plano Senior High School.

Highland Park junior Kaitlyn Read led the Lady Scots in scoring in the game against Frisco Heritage with 23 points, despite being held scoreless in the first quarter and fouling out midway through the fourth.

Also during the game, senior Lady Scot Amanda Goodwin showcased her three-point shooting abilities and scored 12 points for the team.

Other scorers in the game for Highland Park include senior Sydney McDaniel with eight points, senior Libby Ethington and junior Courtney Klingaman with five points each, and junior Haylee Anigian-Rios with two points.

The Lady Scots (23-7, 10-4) will be playing Carter (19-10, 13-1) in the next round of the playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday at Conrad High School.
