HP vs. Pearce (Varsity) Lady Scot senior Libby Ethington wins the tipoff.

The Lady Scots varsity basketball team was able to avenge its loss earlier this month to J.J. Pearce by beating the Lady Mustangs on Friday by a score of 55-35 at Highland Park High School.

Kaitlyn Read and Courtney Klingaman led the Lady Scots in scoring with 14 points and 13 points respectively. Other scorers in the game for the Lady Scots include Libby Ethington with 9 points, Alex Reynolds with 7 points, Sydney McDaniel with 5 points, Amanda Goodwin with 3 points, and Holly Lacour and Laura Edwards with 2 points each.

The Lady Scots varsity squad (19-7, 7-4), which is vying for a spot in the playoffs, is currently tied with Wylie for third place in District and is only one game ahead of McKinney. The remaining three games of the regular season for the Lady Scots are crucial because losing just one could mean not being invited to the UIL State Tournament.

Highland Park's next game is against McKinney North at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at McKinney North High School.
