Peter Johnsen of Boy Scout Troop 80 and many scouts recently completed the construction of Central Christian Church's Dog Park Dog Washing Station for his Eagle Project.
Peter approached pastor Todd Boddy last November about any special needs his Dog Park might have. Pastor Boddy mentioned that his church has an annual Dog Washing fund raiser for their mission trips, and that a permanent Dog Washing Station would really be a help.
Pastor Boddy introduced handyman Frank Whitington to Peter to design the new washing station. After many months of planning, Peter led Troop 80 scouts and Mr. Whitington in the construction of the structure on July 10,2010.
The washing station is a success. The first customer was black lab "Susie" Withers, She got a shower and quenched her thirst, too, after 5 hours of playing at the park during construction.
Peter has washed his own dog "Snickers" at the station now several times. Lucky Dog! Many of the regulars at the Dog Park are washing their doggies, too. It is free for all.
