Allman Family Public Lecture at SMU on Sunday March 21, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.
Join Nobel Laureate Thomas Cech, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor from the University of Colorado - Boulder when he presents a lecture on Fostering Innovation Within and Between the Science Disciplines.
In his lecture, Dr. Cech will share insights from his own research career and from his decade-long stint as president of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). Many future opportunities for biomedical discovery will depend on interdisciplinary research, where chemists, physicists, computer scientists and engineers are brought together with biologists. Recognizing these challenges, HHMI has built the Janelia Farm Research Campus as a model for a new type of interdisciplinary research institute.
Location: Crum Auditorium, Collins Executive Education Center on Binkley Ave. at SMU
The lecture is free and open to the public.
