BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER DALLAS ANNOUNCES THE FIRST CENTER FOR A NEW GENERATION IN TEXAS, AN EDUCATION PROGRAM CO-FOUNDED BY DR. CONDOLEEZZA RICE
CNG and Great Futures Campaign will be Launched During November 12, 2014 Luncheon
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD) is thrilled to announce the creation of the first Center for a New Generation (CNG) in Texas. Co-founded by Dr. Condoleezza Rice, CNG is an innovative academic and enrichment after-school and summer program, CNG will allow the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas to integrate schools represented in the Dallas Independent School District Feeder Pattern and Uplift. The program will be based on- site at Dunbar Elementary to facilitate a more familiar and productive learning environment.
“The Center for a New Generation gives additional learning time and opportunities for those children who may not have the benefits of further exploring their passions and creativity due to disadvantaged circumstances,” said Dr. Condoleezza Rice. “I’m proud to bring this program to the great state of Texas and to help more children in the Dallas area.”
The Center for a New Generation was established in 1991 to help students in low-income communities graduate from high school prepared for college and to provide new opportunities to discover individual talents and passions. The program is collaborative with schools, teachers, administrators and parents to help aspiring “striver” students succeed in their educational environment during after-school and summer hours.
“We are thrilled to launch the fourth CNG program in the country and the first in Texas,” said Charles English, president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas. “Our vision has always been to provide dynamic after-school programs that consistently deliver measurable outcomes for our students. And, we believe CNG offers one of the best curriculums for STEM and applied arts.”
The Center for a New Generation program will be formally launched at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas Inaugural Great Futures Luncheon Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. During this event, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas will also kick off the Great Futures Campaign, with a goal of raising $1.5 million dollars to fund the CNG initiative and other BGCD programs.
