Good Local Markets (GLM) has teamed up with four Dallas Public Library branches to offer market bucks as rewards for the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club. In addition to city-wide prizes, readers at East Dallas’ Audelia Branch Library, Lochwood Public Library, Skillman Southwestern Library and White Rock Hills Branch Library will  be awarded $5 market coupons for success in reading goals.  Coupons may be redeemed at both GLM locations.

Additionally, the GLM Power of Produce Club (POP) invites children throughout the summer and fall to participate in market activities with a POP Passport such as scavenger hunts, story time, cooking demos and the Two-Bite Challenge for $2 market coupons.  Free to enter, children can sign up each Saturday and Sunday at the GLM information desk.

The Mayor’s Summer Reading Club and Power of Produce participation supports GLM’s commitment to encourage healthy shopping, cooking and eating by introducing neighbors to the farmers market.

Good Local Markets operates two farmer’s markets in Dallas and includes only local growers and makers.  The Lakeside Market is on every Saturday of the month at Lakeside Baptist Church (9150 Garland Road).  The Vickery Meadow Market is from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. every Sunday at Half-Price Books (5803 E. Northwest Highway).

Good Local Markets is a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization which supports local farmers, ranchers and artisans by providing a public space to sell fruits, vegetables, cheese, meats, hand-crafted foods and other produce while serving thousands of residents looking for healthy and locally sourced foods.    Additionally Good Local Markets offers the Lone Star food stamp program, Love Your Farmer volunteer days, educational programs and workshops.
