Chefs for Farmers Hosts Mix Off August 16 to Celebrate Official Launch of Ticket Sales

In celebration of the official launch of ticket sales for the 2015 Chefs For Farmers, event organizers will host the Mix Off on August 16 from 5:00-8:00PM at DEC on Dragon (1414 Dragon Street). The Mix Off will feature a bartender and a sous chef competition with the winner of each earning a spot at the Chefs For Farmers Culinary Village at Lee Park on October 25.

The bartender competition pits eight of Dallas’s craftiest bartenders against each other to create the best summer punch with spirits from the Beam Suntory portfolio. All eight bartenders will stir, shake and pour their hearts out for attendees’ votes and for bragging rights of creating the official signature cocktail of Chefs for Farmers 2015.

The sous chef competition, Celebrity Cruises Challenge, will feature four of Dallas’s most talked about sous chefs each preparing a traditional street food but taking a farm-to-table approach. All four sous chefs possess the same values of excellence and modern luxury that Celebrity Cruises embodies and the most deserving sous chef will earn the final spot at the Culinary Village at Lee Park on October 25.

Attendees will help determine the winners of both competitions alongside a panel of judges comprised of a handful of Dallas’s best culinary influencers. Tickets are $55 per person and are available at chefsforfarmers.com/mix-off/. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Participating bartenders include:

About Chefs For Farmers

October 23-25, 2015

chefsforfarmers.com

Chefs for Farmers is proud to show off the talents of Dallas’s best chefs and food artisans while celebrating the farmers that make great food possible. In one calorie-filled weekend, October 23-25, we pay tribute to Dallas as an emerging food city through incredible events that highlight the entire culinary ecosystem in North Texas and beyond. As good food citizens of the world, we balance our dedication to sustainability, eco-consciousness and charity with our greatest goal: putting on the best food festival Dallas has ever seen.

Chefs for Farmers is committed to supporting local charitable causes. A portion of the proceeds go directly to participating farmers where each farmer receives a check so funds can be put right into their farms immediately following the event.  Additionally, proceeds from our events go to Café Momentum, a Dallas-based restaurant and culinary training facility that equips our community's most at-risk youth with life skills, education, and employment opportunities.  This concept of transforming young lives to achieve their full potential was developed by Chad Houser and Janice Provost of Parigi to complement the ongoing programs of the Youth Village Resources of Dallas.
