The weather was gorgeous and the course was picture perfect at the Royal Oaks Country Club for the NKF Konica Minolta Golf Classic, the nation's Premier Amateur Golf Event for Charity benefiting the National Kidney Foundation.

NKF is the leading organization in the U.S. dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease for hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals, millions of patients, and tens of millions of Americans at risk.

Co-chaired by Brandon Rowland (Ernst & Young) and Martin White, the tournament initiated the steep competition to the road to Pebble Beach for the teams. Shotgun began at noon, followed by a reception including cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, the awards presentation and auction.

Neil Foote, president of the National Kidney Foundation North Texas board, welcomed the crowd and shared his personal experience as a kidney donor to his wife.  Scott Murray emceed the presentations, which began with very special thanks to hosts Jon Brumbelow representing Konica Minolta and Scott Price.   Next came a very touching and heartwarming Mission Moment from Jesse Vaughn who shared his story of kidney disease, transplant and recovery, along with Carl Alsabrook, who donated his kidney to Jesse.

Tiffany Archibald, Director of Development, reminded everyone about National Kidney Foundation’s next event, Bonne Santé which happens on Saturday, March 7, 2020. She presented these awards: Jones Lang LaSalle won 1st Place Gross Division; Stealth Partner Group won 2nd place Gross Division; EyeMed won 3rd Place Gross Division; Team Voya won 2nd Place Handicap Index Division and RxBenefits Team won 1st Place Handicap Index Division.

Each year thousands of golfers from across the country participate in over 30 events across the U.S. for the exciting competition and the chance to earn an invitation to the National Finals at Pebble Beach—while raising over $3.5 million for the NKF. The top 3 finishing teams (Gross and Handicap Index Divisions combined) are invited to compete in the National Finals held at the famed Pebble Beach Resorts in January 2020. Last year, Dr. David Martin of North Texas Kidney Consultants and his teammates from the 2018 Dallas tournament won 1st place in the Handicap Index Division.

A venerable tradition of great golf began with the design of a world-class course carved out of thick forest in 1969. This challenging course, along with Hall of Fame instructors and strong playing membership, continues to attract top amateur players and professional golfers to Royal Oaks Country Club each year. Support from sponsors and underwriters help to support the lifesaving programs and services of the National Kidney Foundation.
