 KidneyTexas, Inc. Spring Tea was graciously hosted by Debby Mullen and Tim Alexander at their lovely north Dallas Home.  Chaired by Marie Quintana, Sharon Friedberg and Chandler Mullen, the event included wines donated by Dee Lincoln Prime, a delicious high tea menu by Cynthia Cathcart and many surprise announcements.
         
Andrea Alcorn, President of KidneyTexas, Inc. said, "I am personal witness to the impact KidneyTexas has made. Because of the research funds KidneyTexas has raised in the past, I still get to enjoy having a mother who is one of the oldest living kidney transplant recipients. Research changes everything. It's more than kidney disease. This research impacts many diseases that will impact everyone's family. I hope you will help us."
         
The crowd was buzzing with anticipation as Andrea unveiled the Luncheon and Fashion Show logo and theme, Transforming Lives, with artist and logo creator, Lynn Dealey. The graphic of the fashionable opera-gloved arm is surrounded by butterflies in colorful tones of green and blue as they take flight, representing transformation. It is going to be a surprising year for Kidney Texas!
         
Slated for Tuesday, September 26, the luncheon takes place at Brook Hollow Golf Club. Honorary chairs are Linda and Steve Ivy. Co-chairs are Christine Martin and Susan Russell. An exquisite fashion show will be presented by Jan Strimple Productions with fashions by TOOTSIES. Sue Goodnight will receive the First Annual Lifetime Achievement Award and Natalie Taylor will receive the Sue Goodnight Service Award. Dustin Holcomb and Nerissa von Helpenstill of TOOTSIES, along with Dee Lincoln of Dee Lincoln Prime, will receive Over the Top Awards, among others to be announced.
         
Andrea added, “Each and every year, more people die from kidney disease than from breast or prostate cancer, and many thousands more are profoundly affected by the tremendous physical, financial and emotional toll it causes both on children and adults. Thanks to the efforts of KidneyTexas, we are transforming lives. North Texans living with kidney disease and the diseases our research impacts have reason to hope for a better life.”
         
Beneficiaries are Parkland Foundation, which will receive $30,500  for a kidney dialysis unit; Baylor Health Care Foundation will receive $30,000 towards a five year study of kidney transplants; UT Southwestern Medical Center will receive $29,925  towards kidney related research; Children’s Medical Center Foundation will receive $20,500  for hemodialysis and blood pressure machines; Camp Reynal will receive $19,500 and Texas Health Resources Foundation will receive $14,214 funding for a hemodialysis machine.

As guests departed, they were presented gifts by Shotz Natural Energy. Valet was sponsored by Gold Crown Valet.
         
Underwriting begins at $2,500 and is available at levels up to $50,000. Table host, sponsor and underwriter benefits include preferred seating, special program visibility and more. A limited number of $250 seats are available. Patron Individual seating tickets are at $500 and $1,000.

Mission Statement: The purpose of KidneyTexas, Inc. is to provide funding to improve the methods of treatment, the search for a cure and prevention of kidney disease and other kindred or contributory diseases; and to develop more adequate provision for the care of persons suffering from such diseases.

Statistics: Debilitating kidney diseases impact approximately 20 million people in the United States today. Groups at high risk include African Americans, Hispanics, senior citizens and people with diabetes. In Texas, there are over 30,000 people on dialysis and 4,000 on a transplant list. The number of patients on dialysis is anticipated to double this decade.

History: Since 1999, the dedicated volunteers of KidneyTexas, Inc. have worked in tandem with our generous underwriters to raise over $3.1 million for local efforts to improve the ability to diagnose and manage kidney disease. 

Each fall KidneyTexas, Inc. hosts its Luncheon & Style Show in an effort to raise money for designated beneficiaries and awareness for a disease that affects millions of people each year. The success of this event depends heavily upon the contributions and dedication of our Dallas business and community leaders, and we're asking for your support.
