Those attending the free Hauntcert featuring the Highland Park High School Highlander Strings are in for a special treat, according to orchestra director Peggy Tucker.

The annual concert by the award-winning group will be at NorthPark Mall inside the NorthCourt entrance between Macy’s and Nordstrom’s at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30. It is free and open to the public.

Tucker promises “special surprises” in store for your entertainment. The Highlander Strings will be performing your favorite music selections: A Medley by the Rock Group, Queen, The Holberg Suite by Greig, Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix and Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain.

The Halloween concert is one of the students’ favorites, according to Tucker, not only because they have the opportunity to share their music with a wider community audience, but also because they are allowed to depart from their usual formal attire and dress in costume. Past concerts have featured student musicians dressed as pirates, circus performers, aliens, vampires and superheroes.

The Highland Park Middle School orchestra will be performing as well, so join both orchestras and support these young musicians while enjoying the music!
