On Tuesday night the HP Scots Lacrosse team (6-1) used a suffocating defense led by Cade Saustad, Will Stern, and Andrew Stanzel to shut down Keller 18-1. Doak Walker tallied 4 saves and Chris Walker, and Gabe Galbraith were ferocious at the long stick middie position.

On offense the Scots were led by Cooper Kneese with 3 goals and 3 assists, Max Holsombach with 3 goals and 2 assists and Finn Jent with 3 goals. Scots also got multi point scoring from Connor Stone (2,0), Elliot Nelson (2,0), Reese Glusing (1,2), while Paxton Alexander, Cole Jackson, John Walker, and Spencer Stowe each had 1 goal apiece. John House and Parker Alexander each registered an assist.

The Scots Lacrosse team traveled to North Carolina over Spring Break to compete against teams from across the country at the annual King of Spring tournament. Facing powerhouse high school teams from Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland, the Scots proudly represented Texas Lacrosse as among the nation’s best.

After an early wake-up call and a long day of travel, the Scots started out a little sluggish in their first game, playing in freezing conditions only a few hours after landing in NC. Going into halftime down 3-5 against Cape Henry Collegiate School, the Scots came storming back in the second half to win 13-8. Leading the Scots were Senior Captain Owen Seebold with 5 goals and 1 assist, Senior Max Holsomback with 2 goals and 1 assist, and Senior Captain John House and Junior Cade Saustad with 2 goals apiece.  Also contributing were Senior Captain Parker Alexander with 1/1, Junior Elliot Nelson with 1/0, Junior Paxton Alexander with 0/1, and Sophomore Pete Sitton with 0/1.

The next day the Scots took on perennial NC powerhouse Northwest Guilford HS in a brutally cold evening game. The Scots came out on fire and led 12-6 at halftime, and winning the game with a 14-11 final score. Leading the Scots again was Senior Captain Owen Seebold with 5 goals and 3 assists, and Senior Max Holsomback with 3 goals. Juniors Elliot Nelson and Cooper Kneese had 2 goals each, while Junior Reese Glusing (1/2), Junior Paxton Alexander (1/0), Senior Captain Parker Alexander (0/1), Senior Captain John House (0/1), Senior Chris Walker (0/1) and Junior Cade Saustad (0/1) all contributed in the scoring. Senior Kyle Massimilian won 22 of 28 faceoffs, and Freshman Goalie Doak Walker recorded 6 saves.

On the final day, the Scots took on the nation's #1 ranked HS team, McDonough School out of Baltimore. The Scots played furiously in the first half, leading 5- 3 going into halftime, but McDonough proved too much to handle scoring 10 straight in the second half to win 5-13. The Scots defense of Cade Saustad, Will Stern and Andrew Stanzel shut down some of the nation’s leading scorers, while defensive middie play from Parker Alexander, Reese Glusing, Finn Jent, John House, Paxton Alexander, and LSM Chris Walker proved the Scots are some of the toughest in the nation. Freshman Goalie Doak Walker played beyond his years recording 10 saves on the day. On offense the Scots played hard without starters Seebold, Kozmetsky, and Jenevien all out with injuries, and made a strong statement about the depth of talent on this Scots team. Seniors Parker Alexander (1,1) and John House (1,0) and Juniors Reese Glusing (1/0), Finn Jent (1/0), Elliot Nelson (1/0) and Cooper Kneese (0/1) carried the load for the Scots providing fierce scoring threats against the nation’s best team.

The Scots next opponent will be Plano West on Friday March 24 away at John Clark Stadium in Plano at 7:30pm. The next HOME game will be Saturday April 1, at 1pm vs The Woodlands at Highlander Stadium for “Shade Out” day where students receive a free pair of sunglasses, also free entry for all HP Youth players wearing their HP jersey. The Woodlands will challenge the Scots for the best team in Texas and this should be a great game to watch!
