NorthPark Fire

The NorthPark Center has had some bad luck recently.

Last week, the hailstorm that hit Dallas broke some of the skylights at the shopping center. As if that wasn't unfortunate enough, a fire broke out in NorthPark's food court on Monday morning, causing the entire mall to be evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, a two-alarm fire was happening at the mall, which began at Panda Express in the food court. The cause of the situation was a grease fire that started in the restaurant's kitchen and then made its way to the mall's attic via the Vent-a-Hood.

Dallas firefighters managed to put out the fire, and they even cut a hole in the roof of the shopping center to help with smoke ventilation. Shoppers and employees at the mall were allowed to reenter before noon.

During the situation, smoke was visible outside of the mall from the fire. Reportedly, the Panda Express staff tried to put out the fire before it spread but were unsuccessful in their attempts. No injuries occurred from the situation.
