HP Police Blotter: Pair of $21,000 Earrings Stolen From Residence

JUNE 11

Identity Theft
A 53-year-old resident, who lives in the 4500 block of Arcady Avenue, reported that she received a MasterCard in the mail from MangoMoney.com and discovered that an unknown person opened the account using her name, social security number and date of birth without her permission.

Damage to Town Property
A 27-year-old resident of DeSoto reported that he was driving a large moving truck for his company when the vehicle struck a tree limb, causing it to break, around 2:20 p.m. in the 5400 block of Fairfield Avenue. The estimated cost to clean up and remove the limb and repair the tree was $500.

JUNE 12

Identity Theft
A 71-year-old resident of Dallas, who lives in the 6800 block of Chevy Chase Avenue, reported that an unknown person opened a credit card account using his information and made about $3,000 in charges.

JUNE 13

Theft of Service
A 66-year-old resident reported that her 97-year-old aunt, a resident who lives in the 4700 block of Fairfax Avenue, paid a contractor $7,000 to paint and do miscellaneous repair work on her home, and the contractor took the money but never finished the work.

Theft
A 39-year-old resident reported that an unknown person stole a package, containing about $80 worth of baby clothes, from her front porch between 4:30 p.m. on June 7 and 8 p.m. on June 11 in the 4600 block of N. Versailles Avenue.

Theft
A 72-year-old resident reported that someone stole sterling silver flatware and a pair of candlesticks valued at a total of about $20,000 from her residence between April 13 and May 30 in the 4200 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

Vehicle Burglary
A 48-year-old resident reported that an unknown person broke into his 2000 Ford F-250 truck by damaging the front door lock and then punched out the ignition cylinder but did not steal anything from the vehicle between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on June 10 while it was parked on the street in front of his residence in the 4200 block of Arcady Avenue.

JUNE 14

Theft
A 35-year-old resident of Garland, who is the manager of St. John at Highland Park Shopping Village, reported that more than two dozen clothing items were stolen by an unknown person while they were being stored in the old location of Cooter's Village Camera between June 8 and June 12.

Found Property
A 31-year-old resident of Charleston, South Carolina, reported that she found a debit card in the 4900 block of Abbott Avenue

JUNE 15

Found Property
A Highland Park police officer responded to a call at 10:38 a.m. that a Redline Bicycle was found lying on its side near the driveway of a residence in the 3900 block of Shenandoah Avenue. The bicycle's owner could not be located at the time, so it was taken and put into the city's bicycle storage area.

Theft
A 55-year-old resident reported that an unknown person stole a pair of gold, diamond earrings that is valued at $21,000 between Dec. 18, 2011 and Dec. 28, 2011 from her residence in the 3800 block of Mockingbird Lane.

JUNE 16

Forgery
A 40-year-old Waxahachie resident, who is the assistant manager of the Bank of America location in the 5500 block of Preston Road, reported that a man attempted to cash a fraudulent check for $658.15 then left at 1:40 p.m.
