Scots Lacrosse Win One & Drop a Close One

In what will likely be a key State Playoff opponent in May, The Woodlands from Houston visited Dallas for a midseason match up with Highland Park on Saturday. The Scots came out strong in the first quarter racking up a 4-1 lead with a strong transition game. The Woodlands, however clawed back to tie it at 4 by halftime. The second half went back and forth with The Woodlands maintaining a one goal lead for most of the half, and finally pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 9 to 7 win.

Leading the Scots were Senior Max Holsomback with 2 goals and 2 assists, and Junior Paxton Alexander with 2 goals. Junior Elliot Nelson netted 1 goal and 1 assist, while Senior John House, and Junior Cooper Kneese and each tallied a goal apiece. Senior Parker Alexander and Junior Reese Glusing each contributed 1 assist. Despite some uncharacteristic trouble on the defensive midfield, The Scots defense played a solid game overall, forcing The Woodlands to spread their scoring over 7 different players. Freshman goalie Doak Walker had another nice game with 8 saves, shutting down outside shots and forcing the Woodlands to score inside. Senior Kyle Massimilian registered 11 of 19 faceoff wins.

On Tuesday night, the Scots hosted Coppell at Highlander Stadium and came out on top with a 16-8 victory. The Scots came out strong establishing a 7 to 2 lead by halftime with fast paced transition play. As the Cowboys attempted to use long possessions to slow the faster Scots down, the Scots proved too efficient in their fast break play to be stymied, and kept pouring in the goals.

Leading the Scots on Tuesday were Juniors Cooper Kneese with 5 goals and 1 assist, and Elliot

Nelson with 3 goals and 3 assists and Senior Max Holsomback with 2 goals and 2 assists. Defensively the Scots were too strong with Cade Saustad, Will Stern and Andrew Stanzel shutting down the opposing Attack unit and Chris Walker with more nasty defense at midfield.
