Providence Christian School of Texas Announces New Headmaster

Providence Christian School of Texas is pleased to announce Jeff Hendricks, current Head of Middle School for Providence, as its new headmaster.  Hendricks will assume his new role in early summer following the retirement of Dr. Tony Jeffrey, who has served as headmaster for 12 years.

Search Committee Chair Ben Bell stated, "After a nearly two-year search process, pursuing and engaging potential candidates, interviewing and performing due diligence on a select few, and praying without ceasing, the Providence Board of Trustees is delighted to welcome Jeff as our new headmaster.  We reviewed candidates from across the country, but realized the person God intended to lead the next chapter in our school's history was already in our midst.  Jeff's intimate familiarity with our unique mission, his proven character, wisdom, passion for excellence, leadership abilities, and love and heart for the Savior, led the Search Committee and then the Board of Trustees to the confident and happy conclusion that he is the right person to lead Providence in the coming years.  Jeff will preserve and strengthen our legacy, built over more than a quarter century."

President of the Board of Trustees Robin Pou said, "Jeff been one of Providence's most outstanding teachers since he joined the faculty in 2005.  Over the past three years he has led the middle school to a new level of excellence.  He has built a culture and experience enjoyed by both students and faculty, and his efforts have furthered the School's mission to prepare students to live purposefully and intelligently in the service of God and man.  As the parents of three current Providence students, my wife and I see the transformative nature of a Providence education.  We believe that Jeff will continue this legacy as he leads the School into the future for the fulfillment of our ultimate vision."

"It is an honor, privilege, and great blessing to serve the Providence community as the new headmaster," said Hendricks.  "The mission and core values of Providence promote the most compelling vision of education that I have encountered.  We have been entrusted with a God-glorifying approach to education that cultivates the heart, imagination, and intellect of gifted children, rooting them deeply in the faith and wisdom passed down through the ages.  My tenure here has deepened my trust in the sovereignty of God, and in that faith I eagerly anticipate what He has in store for Providence in the future."

Hendricks joined Providence in 2005, first teaching algebra and then serving as a middle school English and history teacher for many years before being appointed Head of Middle School in 2014.  He has led Providence's capstone Class Eight trip to Virginia, Gettysburg, and Washington, D.C. eight times.  Hendricks was a National Merit Scholar and during high school spent two summers on formative, eight-week mission trips to Uganda and India.  Hendricks attended Gordon College, where he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship.  He spent his senior year studying abroad at Oxford University.  Hendricks earned his bachelor's degree in English, with a minor in Biblical and Theological Studies.  He then completed a Master of English at the University of Dallas.  Hendricks is married to Jessica, who is an educator herself with a degree in deaf education.  She currently teaches pre-primary students at Jubilee Junction preschool at Trinity Fellowship Church in Richardson, which the Hendricks also attend as members.  Jeff and Jessica have three children, the oldest of which is currently a Class One student at Providence.

Dr. Jeffrey, retiring Providence headmaster, concluded, "Throughout this process I have been a strong advocate for Jeff's candidacy and gave the Board my unqualified recommendation.  After witnessing his excellence in the classroom for more than a decade, and then his performance in enhancing what was already a fantastic middle school, I know that Jeff is the one specifically called to lead Providence.  I will miss the Providence community after I retire but am thrilled that our School will continue to reach new heights as it is led by such a talented, intelligent, and humble man of God."
