TACA 50th Anniversary Gala to be Held on September 8th, 2017

TACA has set Friday, September 8 for its 50th Anniversary Gala, to be held at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, 2821 Turtle Creek Blvd.

Wanda Gierhart, TACA’s 50th Anniversary Chair, said, “TACA’s Custom Auction Gala has historically signaled the commencement of Dallas’ black tie season. This year’s event will be exceptional as we celebrate the organization’s many successes over the last five decades. Because the organization is poised to expand its reach to include the visual arts, the party on September 8th will be the last of its kind, lending extra excitement to the proceedings while setting the stage for exciting changes in 2018.”

Gierhart, along with her fiancé, Chef Dean Fearing, are co-chairing the gala, which begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, and continues with an exclusive TACA-commissioned performance, a luxury live auction, a delectable dinner and entertainment. The co-chairs for the gala are the TACA 50th Anniversary committee members.

TACA will present a commissioned celebratory performance directed by TITAS’ Charles Santos and choreographed by Dallas Black Dance Theatre’s Bridget Moore. The new work will include TACA’s grantees: Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Dark Circles Contemporary Dance and Bruce Wood Dance Project.

Gierhart added, “After the performance, we’ll begin our luxury live auction. As most of you know, when it comes to auctions, I always bring my A-game. Since this is TACA’s Golden Anniversary and TACA brought the concept of live auctions to Dallas five decades ago in the first place, I promise that this year’s packages will be appropriately irresistible.”

Following the live auction, guests will enjoy a delectable seated dinner throughout the Mansion’s labyrinth of stunning interior spaces, followed by a lively after-party. The dress, described as “black tie by decade – 1970s to present,” is a way to acknowledge the organization’s longevity and approach their attire with maximum creativity.

Wolford McCue, TACA Carlson president and executive director, said, “TACA has grown into a valued arts funding and service organization that provides an array of grants and innovative programs. Our investment in the arts translates to the premiere of new works, impactful residencies, community initiatives and greater opportunities for artists and audiences to connect. Our community reach will continue to grow as we implement a new strategic plan in 2018 that will focus on supporting all of the arts in Dallas by providing funds for visual arts organizations as well as performing arts. Even though this will be the last gala of its type, TACA will continue to hold exceptional events next year, and for many years to come.”
